Injectable lip fillers require a period of approximately 2 weeks of specific rules named generically: lip filler aftercare. If you don't follow proper aftercare, you increase your risk of developing asymmetries, lumps, uneven healing or the side effects presented before the procedure. Here's everything you need to know:
Filler migration and asymmetries: pressing, massaging incorrectly, touching or even kissing too much, can push the filler into places it’s not meant to be. That can cause lumps, bumps, or migration.
Risk of Infection: not keeping your lips clean can introduce bacteria, leading to infection or inflammation, which can create hard lumps or areas of unevenness.
Bruising and swelling: prolonged sun exposure or saunas, smoking, drinking alcohol, or exercising heavily, can increase bruising and swelling, which can complicate the healing process and affect the final look.
Important:
Soft bruising, small irregularities, lumps, and asymmetries are common in the first 1–2 weeks because of swelling, even if you do everything perfectly . This is part of the healing process.
